Joren Matthiaszoon Otto van de Loch (Born 6 February 1985) is a Maankijker Politician and former political journalist serving as Heer-Provoost of Maankijkeland and one of the two ex officio Heads of Government of Briaklandr-Maankijkeland - as well as Leader of the Populistic Maankijker Volkstem Party sine April 2012. He became a member of the Stol Shadow Cabinet in 2011 as Shadow Minister for Welfare and Employment - following Maankijker Volkstem's surprising success in the 2011 Maankijkeland Legislative Election. Van de Loch identifies politically as 'for the people, not the left or the right.' and has generally been referred to as a Syncretic Populist Similarly to the majority of his party, Van de Loch holds socially conservative and economically left-wing views, in what has been called 'selective welfare capitalism' by political allies and critics alike.
Reception
Fellow Journalist Mark H. Swier described Van de Loch as a leader, making the comment that the Heer-Provoost was, "Unconventional, Controversial and Unapologetic in his beliefs", a notion shared by Mariet Fien, who referred to him as "A man who - no matter if it is love or vitriol - everyone has an opinion on. Known for speaking very directly and being unafraid to speak his mind, Van de Loch was widely seen as an 'anti-establishment politician', though such views have been dampened by the length of his tenure, having be re-elected to serve another seven-year term in 2021.
