He was born in Castle Bjørn, Vakkerhavfruebukt, [[Vakrestrender]] the third and youngest child of Jarl of Vakrestrender Kristoffer Bjørn and Hjørdis Bjørn. His father acceded to the throne in 1951, making Jørgen's oldest brother, Øyvind Bjørn the heir presumptive. Jørgen was educated in private Academy unlike his older brothers who was privately educated by Kristoffer. Although he was tutored partly by his mother, Hjørdis in aspects of royal duties and public appearances, that he would have been expected to perform as member of the royal family. He is unmarried and has no children.
After his time at the academy, he wanted to pursue a career as artist and went to the Royal University of Ingunn in [[Vakrestrender]] achieving a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts.
