Original Wiki History
The region was founded by HTG on the orders of Nusseburg from the Atlantic Central Command due to the urging of MrNonchalant. It was then subsequently taken by a group of pirates and around this point became a feeder. As a feeder region, it rapidly grew to accommodate hosts of newly founded nations.
On May 25, 2003, 1 Infinite Loop became UN Delegate (having been handed the position by former UN Delegate Lotlanthanderamore). Originally, Loop believed he was only taking the position temporarily while Lotlanthanderamore dealt with RL issues; ultimately, however, Lotlanthanderamore never returned, leaving Loop with the Delegacy. On October 31, 2003, 1 Infinite Loop ratified the Articles of Confederation, creating the Confederate States of the East Pacific.
Shortly after the beginning of 1 Infinite Loop's Delegacy, the region suffered an attack by griefers. In the ensuing confusion, the East Pacific successfully defended itself against various outside interferences and invasions, most notably an expansionist move by The Rejected Realms, led by a nascent Kandarin. Briefly after, a Griefer Armada called the National Stalinists attacked using a Preendorsement Loophole to seize the Delegacy. 1 Infinite Loop was online at the time and was instrumental in aiding the Moderators in catching them by providing a screencapture of the delegate's Endorsements. This Screencap allowed the moderators to break up a UN Multi ring of 80 + nations.
The East Pacific was the Host for the First NationStates Worlds Fair Held from 1 to 28 February 2005. On 18 February 2005, the Articles of Confederation were superseded by the Charter of The East Pacific. The Charter was drawn up by the nations of The East Pacific to address failings in the Articles of Confederation and to address broad policy for the future of the East Pacific. The current government was then established based on these articles. On May 25, 2006, after exactly three years as UN Delegate, 1 Infinite Loop retired, turning over the delegacy to Ambassador General Gnidrah. 1 Infinite Loop did not leave NS, however; he served as Grand Vizier (equivalent of the Prime Minister) of the East Pacific for some time afterward, until being replaced by Kangarawa. He also served as United Nations Liaison to the Delegate of the East Pacific, before being replaced by Emperor Matthuis.
On August 16, 2008, the East Pacific was invaded by a group known as "The Empire". As a result, Lady Phedre became delegate, although the legitimacy of this was not recognized by the native government. A Slanted Black Stripe gained the delegacy on December 21, 2008, following incidents of mass ejections by Lady Phedre which led to a campaign to remove her. Following a constitutional convention, which led to the current constitution known as the Concordat of the East Pacific, and a campaigning and voting period, Todd McCloud was elected as delegate on January 26, 2009.

It was the wild days of NationStates. Site Moderators acted with no restrictions, regions were constantly under attack, and only a few managed to hold out amidst the chaos. The Atlantic Central Command, hereinafter called ACC, was a prominent group in those days that was dedicated to raiding regions and taking over for themselves. They instructed one of their member nations, HTG, to found a region called The East Pacific under the Pacific Initiative of ACC. Meanwhile, a new member to the site, named 1 Infinite Loop, was enjoying his days as a member of the Farkers, another organization. However, a schism occurred within the Farkers, causing half of them to leave and form a separate region and inciting The Great War, one of the earliest interregional events.
The Farkers came together to try and find new and more engaging ways of playing the game. They realized that the United Nations was where much of the in-game power resided, and they resolved to take over other regions in an attempt to take over the United Nations as a whole. They were very successful in their attempts, but their goals eventually shifted to eliminating the influence of Nazism from the game. HTG had had many associations with Nazism, so his region was a prime target for the Farkers, and the nation called Lothlanderamore was installed as the Delegate of TEP once it was taken over.
Loth retained his status for a short amount of time before running into real life issues, and asked Loop to assume the Delegate status for a short amount of time while Loth dealt with his real-life happenings. Loth never returned, and Loop officially assumed the Delegacy on June 2nd, 2003.
The region immediately came under attack from the ACC, who were angry that the region had been taken from them by the Farkers and wanted it back. However, The South Pacific came to TEP’s aid in the crisis, ensuring that Loop stayed as the rightful Delegate. This was the start of a relationship with The South Pacific that continues to this day.
Shortly thereafter, the nation 0-_-0 overtook TEP by force using multiple WA nations under the control of the same person, a practice banned by the site. Loop was quickly able to expose the cheating of the nation, however the Delegacy was given to a different nation in TEP by arbitrary decision of the NS moderators, and Loop had to fight to regain the Delegacy.
One nation even attempted to infect Loop's computer by email using a virus that would have compromised both his computer and his NS account, however this attempt failed as well.
After these events, TEP saw a period of relative peace, which allowed its culture and tradition to flourish under the guidance of Loop. The rich tradition of roleplay in TEP was developed under Loop, which continues to this day. Loop oversaw the installment of The Charter of TEP, replacing the outdated Articles of Confederation and paving the way for the first official government of TEP. Loop hosted the first NationStates World Fair, which ran from February 1st to 28th, 2005.
Loop's Delegacy was long and successful, however all things must come to an end eventually, and Loop resigned his position as Delegate on May 13th, 2006 after over 1,000 days as Delegate, with his hand-picked successor Gnidrah assuming the Delegacy. Loop would continue to serve as an advisor and vizier in the region in future years of TEP, and he will be forever remembered as the true founder and cultivator of TEP.
Initially, Gnid's Delegacy was a smooth transition; there were no threats from abroad or from within. Loop's work had paid off, and TEP continued to flourish. However, towards the end of Gnid's Delegacy, he became inactive, spelling disaster for the region.
An organization called The Empire, dedicated to taking control of regions, had noticed the inactivity of Gnid, and were preparing to take full advantage. In those days the main security force of TEP was the Delegate. Since Gnid was inactive, a nation called Lady Phedre amassed endorsements without scrutiny. Phedre was a prominent member of The Empire, and The Empire had formulated plans to enact a coup.
On August 16th, 2008, after 826 days of Gnid’s Delegacy, The Empire ordered its allies to switch endorsements from Gnid to Lady Phedre, giving Phedre enough endorsements to claim the Delegacy. Initially, Phedre's rule was peaceful, if undemocratic. Efforts to take back the region by force were attempted by Loop, Gnid, and a nation named Packilvania, who had become the Delegate-in-exile while Phedre reigned. These efforts all failed, due to a spy in their midst named Biyah, who called themselves Lord Rahl. This is where the derogatory term of Rahl stems from.
The Empire eventually started to behave in less agreeable ways, however. They purged the regional forums and created their own, and most notably, they started mass ejecting and in some cases banning nations, some of which were WA members. Some accounts put the number of nations affected at over 200. While the Empire’s actions were unjust, they would also be the things that would lead to their downfall.
A nation called A Slanted Black Stripe, who had been inactive in government thus far, saw the mass ejections and bans, and was stirred to action. He sought the advice of the other resistance nations, but his approach was different. ASBS sent hundreds of telegrams to World Assembly nations asking them to unendorse Phedre and endorse himself, promising regional change. Phedre and The Empire tried to discredit ASBS, but his clear and honest message—change—resonated with WA members.
Eventually, his efforts were successful, and after it was clear that The Empire was soon to fall, they voluntarily left the region. They indicated that it was on purpose and for some deeper motives than their defeat, and indeed they encouraged other nations to try and take over TEP in their absence, but nothing arose from their efforts. After 4 months of Empire rule, ASBS assumed the Delegacy on December 18th, 2008, liberating TEP and restoring it to democracy.
It was clear that change was needed. ASBS organized the prominent members of the community to write and enact The Concordat, under which TEP is still governed, and he got to work unbanning the nations that had been unjustly affected by The Empire. Perhaps most significantly, ASBS peacefully gave up the Delegacy to Todd McCloud, the next elected Delegate, and ensured a smooth transition to the new Delegate. McCloud assumed the Delegacy on January 20th, 2009, but ASBS will always be remembered for his aid to the resistance and his role in successfully liberating TEP.
Todd McCloud was the first elected Delegate after the empire was defeated and forced out of TEP through organized native resistance. Todd was highly diverse and active in NationStates, and remains a member of TEP's government to this day as a magister and a vizier. He ran several large User Created Regions and was active in both raiding (under Fox Rite) and some defending before becoming Delegate. While ASBS and the new Concordat had ensured basic stability and laid out the fundamental laws of TEP going forward, it was up to the denizens of The East Pacific to set up a functioning government and make sure those laws were followed.
Todd had an 11-part plan to form the government, ensure The Empire couldn't reform with new nations, and both spur and maintain activity. Todd oversaw the election of the first Magisters, the appointment of Viziers, the construction of the Conclave, the creation of an endorsement cap, and the creation of the minister of foreign affairs, amongst many other Delegate duties.
Todd saw the importance of restoring TEP's interregional reputation and ensuring that potential allies felt reassured despite their raider background. He saw the importance of restoring RP to its former glory. Most importantly, he acted on what he saw, and TEP was able to regain its reputation because of it. After overseeing TEP for 425 days, Todd declined to run for reelection, and was replaced by Der Fuhrer Dyszel (DFD) on March 28th, 2010.
DFD had been in NS in various regions since 2003, and was formerly a prominent member of The Empire under Lady Edea, their WA nation. DFD was notable for being one of the only members of The Empire to engage in roleplay and encouraged more impactful and challenging role playing during the reign of Phedre. After the Empire left, DFD decided to stay and dedicate herself to the community under various roles.
DFD had run on a platform of encouraging more governmental involvement and WA involvement on top of the role-playing that TEP is known for, as well as the unorthodox goal of having social roles for governmental leaders to fill. As well, DFD wanted to actually decrease the powers of the Delegate and discourage the view of the Delegate as having absolute power. DFD chose to be Delegate for only one term, and a fresh set of elections occurred, with the victor being South Allegheny, a home-grown nation that had a prominent role in TEP roleplay and government.
Allegheny was relatively new to NationStates, and he won a 2-person race with Packilvania, assuming the Delegacy on September 25th, 2010. Allegheny ran on a simple platform of honesty and resolving RP issues at the time, as well as continuing DFD's goals of making the Delegate more of a servant than a leader with absolute power, and this message propelled him into the Delegacy. Allegheny declined a nomination to run for a second term, and the next round of elections started to expose a disease that had been festering in NationStates as a whole for a while: inactivity.
In DFD's election, it had been a two person race between her and Packilvania. After Allegheny’s first term, Todd decided to run again for Delegate, and despite numerous nominations it took over 10 days until another nation, Stateless, decided to run, only out of a desire to ensure the Delegate elections still functioned correctly. The number of voting citizens had seen a decline in recent elections compared to those previous, and the decay in interest was clear.
Todd easily won, assuming the Delegacy for the second time on April 2nd, 2011. He remained Delegate for a long period of time, but during his second Delegacy, it was hard to find active community participants and people wanting to be a part of TEP's government. Inactivity, which plagued NS as a whole, had come to TEP as wellwith a vengeance. However, one nation saw this decline, and chose to step up to combat it.
A Mean Old Man had been a part of TEP for more than 2 years and had governmental experience in many almost all of the most populous regions. He chose to run after participating in a program instituted by Todd to encourage future Delegate candidates, and his main platform was encouraging more activity within TEP. Todd had declined to run again, stepping down after another 420 days of Delegacy, and AMOM assumed the position on May 26th, 2012.
AMOM worked tirelessly during his term to revive the government and activity of TEP. This was accomplished largely through one-on-one interactions with the citizens of TEP, encouraging more interaction using the WFE and WA proposals. This showed in the subsequent elections between him and Todd, who was once again deciding to run for the position of Delegate. It was a close election, with many abstention votes due to the popularity and hard work both candidates had displayed during their terms. However, in the end, Todd won the election, and AMOM stepped down from the Delegacy on December 8th, 2012.
Todd's third term as Delegate was marked by an increase in activity all around both NS and the forums because of the efforts of AMOM in his term. The first Z-Day occurred during his Delegacy, in April of 2013, and has continued as a Halloween event ever since. Around this time, TEP was one of the only remaining democratic Pacifics remaining, but the democracy of TEP was alive and well, with 4 separate candidates for Delegate running in the following June election. During this time, a coup occurred in Osiris, and TEP was forced to declare war on the coupers, called Gatesville Inc., who were eventually forced out of the region
Todd decided not to run again to let other candidates bring new ideas to the table, and AMOM chose to run again to continue his efforts to bring the major regions together amidst confusion and disagreement between them. Despite some disagreements with prominent community members about the status of citizens as WA members, AMOM won the vote overwhelmingly, and Todd stepped down from the Delegacy on June 23rd, 2013, after another 197 days as Delegate.
AMOM undertook a massive foreign affairs initiative that had begun during his first term as Delegate, in order to increase activity amongst the regions, which was seen as a major issue at the time. The second Z-Day also occurred, this time on Halloween, as is customary nowadays. As well, during this time a revision to the concordat occurred which changed the term limits of Delegates to 4 months instead of 6.
Due to AMOM declining to run again, the next election was different in that it consisted of no former Delegates which had been the case for a long time, and served as a testament to the newfound strength of the government. One nation, Bachtendekuppen, had joined back in 2012 and had been witness to both the slowdown and revival of TEP, and started his campaign with a very comprehensive platform, leaving little to be desired in terms of questioning. Bach had served in many positions throughout TEP, including Magister, Provost, and Chancellor, as well as helping to establish the University of The East Pacific. It was both of these factors that propelled him to the Delegacy, gaining it on November 11th, 2013.
During Bach's first term, the divisive Defender act passed the magisterium, changing TEP into a Defender region, with the goal of defending other smaller nations from foreign invasion. This was quickly repealed and replaced, ensuring TEP's role as an independent region free to enact it's will, but is a notable moment in the history of TEP. Bach's hard work paid off in the form of a relatively uncontested second election cycle, during which he continued to enact his various plans for activity and reform.
Bach ran into RL issues when it came time for the next election cycle, and once again a fresh batch of 5 candidates were voted on, and a nation named Ramaeus was among them. Ramaeus had joined in December of 2012, and joined the magisterium soon afterwards. He authored a commendation for A Slanted Black Stripe, with the help of AMOM, who was Delegate at the time, and wanted to help many other members of the region have a similar experience.
His honest and open message, along with a clear platform for encouraging activity, helped him achieve the Delegacy despite the fact that Loop, former Delegate for years on end, was also in the running. After a close election, Ramaeus attained the Delegacy on July 7th, 2014. Near the end of Ramaeus' Delegacy, certain members of TEP's government were involved in interfering in upcoming elections in the government of TSP, which was then exposed and led to a sharp rise in interregional tensions.
With Ramaeus declining to run again, and no other major candidate running, a nation named Xoriet was asked to run for the Delegacy to help calm the situation. Xoriet put forth a clear platform of improving interregional relations that propelled them to the Delegacy on November 7th, 2014.
Xoriet was able to calm interregional relations as well as focus more on the cultural side of TEP, encouraging events and educational activities during her Delegacy. Xoriet declined to run again, and in the next cycle, the candidates ended up being Ramaeus and Todd, who was once again looking to become Delegate of TEP. Both candidates had quite extensive platforms covering a variety of issues that had arisen, from a new EPSA general to encouraging more cultural events. Despite Todd's prominence in the community, Ramaeus was able to win after a very close election, assuming the Delegacy for the second time on March 6th, 2015. Ramaeus was generally successful during his second Delegacy, shown through his landslide victory in the following elections, and even though he declined to run again after his second term, he remains an active and prominent community member as well as vizier.
A nation named Eastern Prussia decided to run for the Delegacy during the next election cycle. Prussia had been provost of the magisterium previously as well as an EPSA general and a major contributor to the EPNS, and focused on using the EPNS as a way to encourage a major boost in activity. Todd as well decided to run once again, with a platform focusing on culture, specifically the upcoming holiday season.
Despite his reputation and widespread respect, some community members disagreed with parts of his platform that were focused on past community members and ideas, and this among other factors led to Prussia gaining the Delegacy on December 5th 2015. Sadly, after only 20 days as Delegate, Prussia was forced to resign due to RL issues, which would lead to a 2 year hiatus from NationStates. A special election was held where Todd was confirmed as delegate, and he officially assumed the role on January 18th, 2016, although he had been delegate since the 25th of december for stability reasons.
The next cycle proved as well to be a complicated one, with only one candidate available, that being Ramaeus. However, he did not receive a majority of votes, and so the voting process had to be extended until a candidate with a majority could be decided upon. Eventually, a nation named McStooley made the decision to run for the Delegacy
McStooley had quite a simple platform of encouraging activity, but this was enough to give him victory over Packilvania in the extended election season. Ramaeus was not able to run again that cycle due to the non-majority he received. Todd once again stepped down from the Delegacy on April 13th, 2016, after another 109 days as Delegate. This put Todd at a combined total of 1151 days as Delegate, which made him the Delegate with the most days in office, surpassing even Loop. Todd holds this distinction to this day
McStooley tried to largely maintain the status quo in TEP during his time in office given the turmoil that had been a part of the region recently. During the next election cycle, McStooley did run again, and won out against the other candidates because of his work as Delegate. Sadly McStooley too was forced to resign due to (Insert Reason Here), with Todd once again taking over the Delegacy in the absence on August 20th, 2016 The next election cycle was particularly busy, with 5 candidates vying for the title of Delegate, including Todd
Aelita was one of the candidates running in the election. They had run in several previous elections and held positions in government in their 4 years of being in TEP, and they took issue with what they saw as a lack of Delegate engagement during previous Delegacies. They had an expansive agenda, and at a certain point the election between the 2 was very close. In fact, after much consideration of his position as 5-time Delegate of TEP, and considering that he himself had pushed for new faces and new ideas in TEP by the time of this election cycle, Todd decided to suspend his campaign in the middle of the voting, which guaranteed Aelita's election to the position on November 27th, 2016
