An East Cerdan Passport (Reisepass der DDR) is issued to citizens of the Cerdani Democratic Republic and is used for international travel.

Passports are issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs in East Cerdani and by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to citizens who live abroad. East Cerdan Passports can be issued to citizens at any age. Upon turning 18, citizens are often encouraged to obtain a passport which is free of charge.

There are four types of passports: Standard, Official, Diplomatic, and Emergency.


Physical appearance

Standard passports are blue in colour, Official passports are a shade of green. Diplomatic passports are in red and Emergency passports are white.

East Cerdan passports contain text in Cerdan and Codexian.

Passport note

The passports contains inside the front cover a note that is addressed to the authorities of all countries and territories, identifying the bearer as a citizen of the Cerdani Democratic Republic and requesting that they be allowed to travel freely and be treated according to international norms:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asks all authorities to let the bearer of this passport travel freely and to grant them any protection and assistance that they might require.::

Biometric chip

The embedded chip stores the passport owner's digitised photograph, name, gender, date of birth, nationality, passport number, and the expiry date of the passport. This is the same information that appears on the printed information page of every passport.
