Prior to becoming the leader of the NPP Grand Coalition, Káan was head of the Progressive Party of Kuduk which held many of the same values the NPP does today.
Káan was born in Táatusa Village located within the south of the Hey Tribe of Kuduk. She became interested in Kuduk politics and history during her studies at the College of Ayanka where she got a bachelor's degree in Kuduk History.
