The Church of Xaethos is a religion that grew out of early Alksearian religions. By 1300, the first written Tomes of Xaethos emerged, and by 1350, it was produced for all the clergy to have. In 1500, the Church was formally established by St. Theodore Vaïno and a council of priests from all over the old Alksearia. It grew in popularity in the 1550s after a Great Plague ravaged the region. By the 1600s, the religion was followed by a large majority of the population, and by 1678, the Church of Xaethos was the only religion within the region for years. As of early 2019 when the last study was done, the Church of Xaethos was only practiced by 86% of Alksearian citizens.
