It has a total land area of 3,082 square kilometres (1190 sq mi) and a population of 1,261 in 2023. '''Buzela''' is a [[MBE\|Morstaybishlian dependency]] located in the Antartic Ocean. It consists of one large island and three minor islands with a residency of 315,200, primarily in the city Toga Tome, which acts as its capital, serving as one of only six built up areas and the only city. It serves as the location of a Morstaybishlian naval base and houses nuclear weapons. It neighbours a mining colony owned by [[Celennica]] to the east and [[Bolize\|Bolize (UK)]] to the west. Buzela was named after Hamish Buzel in 1675, and was never permanently inhabited until in 1723 when a [[Imperial Navy]] halfway port to [[Joralesia]] was built. The military establishment fell into disuse and was forgotten about for over 50 years until a Morstaybishlian ship rediscovered it in 1774, by which time the surviving descendents had established a fishing commune in its foundations called Port Lokania. The harsh [[Wikipedia:Subarctic climate\|subsempiternic climate]] has kept the permanent population low, though today the population is scattered across Port Lokania and New Celidizia. The fishing commune of Queen Florence Point was established in 1851 on Hamish Island, with a permanent population of 84 in 2023. MAF Las Joyas sits on the north coast of Buzela and its population is not counted in the overall census. Buzela was named after late Calth-era explorer Hamish Buzel as Buzel Island in 1675. It remained quiet and only inhabited by several merchants at any one time. The island was used primarily as a mid way island to [[Joralesia]] until the early 18th century as tensions in Joralesia rose. In the early 1720s a naval halfway point was established to better the Morstaybishlian position during wartime. Since the 1720s the island has seen a steady increase in population and as of 2013 the population stands at 315,200.
