Austin Thomas Peter Merrill (born October 14th, 1963), otherwise known as Austin Merrill, is a Wealdenite politician, statesman, dictator, and lawyer who served as President of the People's Republic of Wealden from 2007 to 2023. As a member of the Wealdenite People's Party, he has formerly served as the Member of the Gemotern for West Forest (in Cumberland Forest, New Cumberland) from 1997 to 2007. He is best known for his involvement in the 2007 communist takeover of Wealden.

Merrill was removed from power in the 2023 Wealden coup d'état. He is currently under the custody of the government of Wealden.

Early life

Merrill was born in Matthewsburg, in Catonia. His father, Simon Merrill, was a local banker who had served as Mayor of the town from 1967 to 1975, and was also a member of the CSDP. After attending the grammar school Robertson College, Merrill would go on to study Politics and International Relations, and further Law and Justice at Moyen-Orient University, and after graduating, would pursue a life of law in Vernalis, before moving back to Matthewsburg and working for a local law firm.

Political views

Merrill is known in Wealdenite politics for his powerful speeches and energetic rallies against conservative ideals. He is a well-known supporter of the late president Quintin Howlett and, during his time as President, has been instrumental in replicating Howlett's policies on modern Wealden. He also opposed the 'New Wealden' movement in 1997 by Michael Ramsay. Politically, Austin Merrill identifies as left-wing, but many have stated that Merrill is "dangerously extremist" and has been a "traitor to the Wealdenite state at large for over 14 years".

Personal life

In 2001, Merrill publicly stated that he is bisexual.
