Anapa is the location of many resorts, casinos, amusement parks, hotels and other tourist attractions. The development brought billions of dollars in foreign investment and tourism. Besides tourism, entertainment and retail, it also has a large professional services sector as firms such as Ita Marama have offices there.

The city is the hometown of famous people such as Arana Marama, head of the Green Party of the Oan Isles and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
