The company established Thompson Aerospace, its subsidiary, to take over its military aircraft program. In the 1980s, the company was involved in the Advanced Interceptor Program via its subsidiary Thompson Aerospace whereby the [[Thompson F-21 Bobcat]] was developed for use by the [[Armed Forces of South Hills]]. At the time, it was arguably the most advanced fighter jet in the world.
