The Alleghenian Armed Forces (Packilvanian: leHagan leKharish aYulakhaan) is the military of the Union Republic of Allegheny.

Structure

The President of the Union Republic, as the head of state, is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. They are the highest civilian official in the military hierarchy with the power to declare war and make peace, to formulate and execute defense policy and to appoint and dismiss senior officials of the military. During an emergency, the President assumes direct command of the military and can order the deployment of its forces both internally and abroad within the remit of the law. The Minister of Defence assumes responsibility for the running of the Department of Defence and they daily management of the affairs of the Armed Forces. They advice the President on military matters and execute defense policy directives. The President requires the consent of the Union Senate to raise the moneys required to fund the armed forces, to deploy a substantial portion of its forces and resources, to make major purchases, to formally enter a state of war with a foreign nation, and to administer martial law for a period exceeding 6 months, and to call a formal mobilisation of its reservists. The highest professional official is the command of the organisation is the Chief of the Defence Staff who oversees the General Defence Staff.

Budget

The Armed Forces is allocated its funding by the Union Senate in the annual budget as presented by the Secretary of Finance on behalf of the government. The current armed forces received 7.742 billion KRB in the 2022/2023 financial year of which 5.806 billion KRB went to the army while 1.935 billion KRB went to the air force. Of this budget, 60% goes to salaries and pensions, 11% to operations, 9% procurement, 7% to capital investments, 7% to training, and 6% to facilities and maintenance.
