On 7th of January 2023, an attempt bike-bombing outside of the Federation, in Tiziri, Wed Shams targeting the gardener while they was storing their bike at the rack in front of the embassy. The attacker, Basil Tayda suffered from undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia and believed the gardener Pons Bouchard, her neighbor was following her and was spying on her. Basil Tayda, reasoned that the gardener was a spy due to him carrying gardening tools in his bike basket, and that they lived next to each other.
The Attack
Tayda started to follow Mr. Bouchard while he was on his way to work, holding a homemade pipe bomb in their pant's pocket. According to witness at the time, it appeared that Tayda was in distress and was mumbling to himself. Pons didn't notice Basil following him as he made his way to the embassy. Based on the surveillance cameras on the embassy, Tayda yelled at Mr. Bouchard as he was chaining his bike at the rack. Tayda attempted to take out their pipe bomb from their pocket, and started to run towards Pons. The pipe bomb went off in Tayda's hand, killing them instantly and only slightly damaging Pons' ears with the explosion.
Aftermath
The attack only killed Basil Tayda, however due to the attack being on the Federation embassy grounds and towards a Côtois citizen. The attack was considered to be a attack of terrorism on the Federation, and was jointly investigated by Shamsian authorities and Federation special unit for terrorism. Tayda's house was covered in writings, floor covered in trash bags and the windows lined with tin foil. Due to the concerning nature of the house, a criminal psychologist was called to the house to investigate the house and Basil Tayda was posthumus declared to be suffering from undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia.
