On 25 December 2020, a general election was held in Vistaraland in accordance with the mandate of the Second Vistari Constitution. The election was the first to elect members of the newly-created Imperial Parliamentary Council, functioning to succeed the previously partially-elective Imperial Advisory Council.

As such, the election marked the formation of a considerably more powerful lower house, entirely comprising members elected by proportional representation across all constituent countries of the Imperial Vistari Confederation. In addition, the Constitution, which established the electoral system, allowed for a much wider array of political parties than was previously permitted - with separatist, republican and socialistic parties represented for the first time.

The election saw the victory of the previously appointed First Minister, Allard Baas, with the Imperial Conservative Party forming a dominant alliance with the Libertarian Party: the Joint List. Whilst unable to gain an equivalent portion of the legislature that was established under the system of the Imperial Advisory Council, the Joint List took a dominant role in government negotiations, bringing together a majority comprising parties both in the centre and the political right. This coalition, made up of the Joint List, Civic Alliance, Moral Ademarist Centre, New Democratic Vierist Party and National Liberal Alliance Party, represented a reaffirmation of the dominance of the established political forces of conservatism, economic liberalism and political Ademarism in Vistari politics.

Despite this, the presence of a significant opposition of left-leaning parties for the first time showed the emergence of a broader political spectrum which allowed for the success of previously suppressed working-class and anti-imperialist movements - with the socially-democratic Cooperative Worker's Party heading the Formal Opposition under a platform of previously-unfeasible economic reforms towards a mixed economy.

While separatist parties failed to reach the popularity many had expected of them, in the wake of the previously rampant political instability, the Salovian Party of K'undzeti found a notable amount of success within the Grand Dominion, ushering in the establishment of an independence referendum in Wescernia that led to the breaking away of part of the territory to form an independent K'undzeti.
