'''Zakhar Alexivich Kreskov''' ([[Volkian language|Volkian]]: Захар Алексивич Кресков; born May 31, 1956) is a [[Volkia|Volkian]] politician and attorney who served as the 19th [[President of Volkia|president of Volkia]] from 20092008 to 20172016. A member of the [[Social Democratic Union]], he previously served as the [[Governor (Volkia)|Governor]] of [[Osinsky Oblast]] from 19991998 to 20072006 and as a [[Chamber of Deputies (Volkia)|People's Deputy]] from 19911990 to 19991998.

Kreskov was born in [[Koshki]], Osinsky Oblast, making him the first president from the province. He is also the first former Governor of Osinsky Oblast to become president. Kreskov graduated from [[Osinsky Federal University]] in 1978 and entered Petrovskoye University's law school the following year. He graduated in 1982 and became a constitutional law attorney and academic, teaching at Volkgoroda Federal School of Law from 1985 to 19911990. As a constitutional law attorney, Kreskov argued two cases before the [[Federal Supreme Court of Volkia|Federal Supreme Court]] successfully in 1985 and 1989. Kreskov would go on to represent Osinsky Oblast's 1st District in the [[Chamber of Deputies (Volkia)|Chamber of Deputies]] from 19911990 to 19991998, when he ran for governor. In 20072006, Kreskov briefly stepped away from politics following his two terms as Governor and began teaching at Petrovskoye School of Law. In 2008 he was nominated for president, and [[2008 Volkian presidential elections|in OctoberJuly 2008]] was handily elected with 51.06% of the first round vote. He was inaugurated JanuaryAugust 1411, 20092008 alongside running mate [[Andrei Borovsky]]. In 2012, Kreskov and Borovsky were [[2012 Volkian presidential election|reelected]] with 51.21% of the second round vote.

Kreskov's presidency has generally been regarded favorably, and evaluations by historians, political scientists, and the general public place him in the mid to upper tier of Volkian presidents. Kreskov left office in JanuaryAugust 20172016 and currently resides in Koshki with his wife.
