After graduating the Academy at 17, Yuk'kot'um would join his father as an intern for Vizier [someYur'hal dude]Klawkson. It would be here that he would get a taste of politics. In the 2 years he worked in the Vizier's office, people in the office would note that Yuk'kot'um had "charismatic charm to him that most young people didn't have" and "He was a well-spoken individual who knew how to articulate his views and present them in a way that made people around him agree." After 2 years, theVizier VizierKlawkson sat Yuk'kot'um down and fire him from the office. The Vizier was reported to have told Yuk'kot'um that "he does not run my office. I am the Vizier not you." Yuk'kot'um would then run against the Vizier in the 1985 election.

After getting fired in early 1984, Yuk'kot'um starts to drum up support to contest against the incumbent Vizier Klawkson. Yuk'kot'um would officially declare his candidacy under the Imperial Party in May 1984 just under the declaration deadline. The Imperial Party primary was originally scheduled to take place in July 1984, but was delayed until October 1984 due to "administrative errors." It is widely theorized, even though nothing can be proven, that Whit'chest had pulled strings behind the scenes to delay the primary to give Whit'chest more time to campaign. Klawkson would launch a smear campaign against the young start-up claiming that he should start in the Chamber of Deputies as "that is where the children should go." This backfired on Klawkson as voters would point out that he worked as an intern under Klawkson for years. Whit'chest would also claim that Klawkson had actually let Whit'chest write some bills that were introduced and passed by the Council. Whit'chest would end up winning the primary challenge against Klawkson 93-6 with 1% of voters in the primary voting for a write-in candidate. Whit'chest would then continue to serve in the 24th seat on the Council of Viziers until the dissolvement of the Republic of Balistria in 2020. Whit'chest would hold the record for the longest serving Vizier. After the primary challenge, Klawkson would run as an independent against Whit'chest alongside the Liberal Party candidate and the Nationalist Candidate. Whit'chest would run on a platform declaring that the recent economic downturns were to be blamed on the "anti-democratic Elites of Alksearia" and that the "Alkari are a plague upon the Urth that should be destroyed, contained, and cleansed for the betterment of Urth." Whit'chest's inflammatory comments about Alksearia would cause Alksearia to blacklist Whit'chest from ever entering the country, and requiring his immediate family to be escorted by Royal Intellegence Agents when they did visit Alksearia.

The election of 1985 was set up to be a fierce battle between Whit'chest for the Imperial Party and the Liberal Party candidate Terr'kulm Vass. Vass campaigned heavily and hard against the rhetoric of Whit'chest citing, "his rhetoric does nothing but weakening Balistrian standing in the world. Alksearia is a nation who can do invaluable trade with and empower both our economies." Whit'chest would retort by asking if Vass had recently slept with an Alkari national. Whit'chest also rallied against the International Forum saying, "The International Forum is a joke. Balistrians should be the only body that tells Balistrians what to do. The Global Elites in Rhilannon want to subject all the nations to a World Order where democracy dies and is instead replaced with autocrats." Suspiciously, a month before the 1985 election, Vass would fall ill and spent the remainder of the campaign season in a hospital. Rumor had it that one of Whit'chest's aides had poisoned his opponent, but such rumors were denied categorically. Whit'chest would win the election 65-32 with the remaining 3% split between Klawkson's third party ballot run and the Nationalist candidate.
