After [[The Auroran Imperial War]], the Tivotian people saw that the empire which they relied on so heavily for protection was weakened militarily and economical, and as such the Tivotian province announced their intent to execute an independence referendum. They were established on January 24th, 1976. Since then, Tivot has become a booming city-state. Interestingly, Tivot is also the largest city-state in the world by land area, and the area surrounding Tarov is very diverse, with large mountains to the south and east, an extremelyunusually steep volcanic mountain on one of its islands, a very deep ravine on the northernmost island, as well as a trulyan immense cliff in the northern part of the Tivot mainland. Due to this diversity, most of Tivot's land area has been designated as a nature reserve, except for Tarov, andits surrounding areas, the city of Per, and Port Trilkov.
