The politics of Thalria take place in the framework of a one-party authoritarian communist Dictatorship. Whereas most democratic nations have a three branch system, this country has a two-branch system composed of the party and the state. The party sets policies while the state administers them. The highest structure in the country is the National Worker's Congress (NWC). The NWC is elected by the people every 7 years. Only members of the ECUP may stand as candidates and they require the approval of the Politburo to contest elections. As such elections are not competitive, fair or transparent.
