Tamerlaine is one of, if not the most wealthy nation on Urth when referencing GDP per capita, with an estimated $350,000 per citizen. Its economy is highly diverse and specialised across the four islands, including industries such as shipbuilding, resort tourism, pharmaceutical development, investments and banking, aerospatial testing, and mining. The influence of corporations, especially those recognized by the Tamerlaine Trade and Regulation Act as part of the International Trade Zone, is pervasive throughout the country. Authorities in the International Forum have identified Tamerlaine variously as a [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_welfare corporate welfare] state, [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporatocracy corporatocracy], a neo-banana republic, and a [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puppet_state puppet government].

== Etymology ==
The name ''Tamerlaine'' is derived from the local term ''taemyr lu'nhe'' ('moon bay'), used by the indiginous Tamerid people to refer to the large bay of Abrus island's southern coast. The native people similarly take their name from this landmark; the word ''Tamerid'' roughly translating to 'people of the bay.' Local history asserts that the moon is reflected by the bay waters in a perfect mirror image once every several hundred years. This has resulted in a notable Akronist minority sect known as the "Taemyr Akronista" being established on the islands.

''Tamerlaine'' first appeared in the 1589 'Baham Map' atlas of northern Arcturian states, used to refer to the island of Abrus alone.The first instance of the name being used for the ethnically Tamerid islands as a group is generally accepted as being the 1651 'Catalog of Foreign Trade Partners' published by the [[Antora|Corric]] crown for internal reference. It is disputed whether the Tamerid people accepted foreign usage of the term to refer to their islands as a whole, but local history indicates each island asserted their individual descriptors in domestic use up until their federation in the 20th century.

== Geography ==
Tamerlaine consists of four major islands and several dozen smaller islets and atolls in the eastern Halcyon Sea, off the west coast of Tennabroch and the north coast of Stelvania. It lies between latitudes 15° and 18° N and longitudes 17° and 19° E. It is +1:00 hours from Universal Time at Christie. The total land are of the nation is combined from the four major inhabitable islands, measuring 2,614 square kilometers (1,009 square miles).

Tamerlaine, the capital city, is located on the center of the Taemyr Bay on the island of Abrus. The other inhabited islands are Khalden; the largest and second-most populated, Huysan; the southernmost and least populated, and Samar; the central and smallest. Other land masses of note are Johnson Atoll, Diego Marcios Cay, Alabaster Cay, Moonbeam Isle, and Lesser Kalinia.

The main islands possess varied geographies, with large coastal cliffs, sloping inland fields and hills, and mountainous ridges. Cliffsides can reach up to 45 meters (135 feet). The highest point in the nation is the Great Summit on Khalden, reaching 509 meters (1,527 feet) above sea level. Khalden also possesses the largest and deepest body of freshwater: the Southern Pool reservoir has a surface area of 190 hectares and a depth of 30 meters (120 feet.)

There are two distinct ecoregions in Tamerlaine: Tamerid pine forest and Tamerid palm savannah. Pine forests occur at higher altitudes and on portions of islands sheltered from the westerly winds of the Halcyon Sea. The nation has a distinctive mangrove subregion on cays and other small, low-lying islands.

=== Climate ===
Tamerlaine possesses a tropical savannah climate (''Aw''), with a hot and wet season and a warm and dry season. The low latitude, position between warm wind currents, and sheltered surroundings provide Tamerlaine with few major weather phenomenon and a warm, winterless climate.

As with most tropical climates, seasonal rainfall follows the sun, and summer is the wettest season. There is only a 8 °C (15 °F) difference between the warmest month and coolest month in most of the islands. Every few decades low temperatures can result from a severe cold front comes down from Yasteria, however there has never been frost recorded in Tamerlaine. Snow has only been recorded once: in 1962, rain mixed with snow was observed for several minutes in Samar. The islands are often sunny and dry for long periods of time, and average more than 3,000 hours or 340 days of sunlight annually. Much of the natural vegetation is tropical grass, shrubs, and types of palm along with tropical pine.

== Goverment ==
Tamerlaine is a federal presidential republic, headed by a popularly-elected President serving as head of state and exeuctive of government. The legislative body is the Republican Forum, comprised of twenty-eight Officers with seven elected from each of the four main islands. There is a single Superior Court with three Justices that serves as the main judicial branch, while each island has a District Court and several small Village Tribunals for local issues. Politically, the Tamerid government is similarly constructed to that of the South Hills model, from which the nation draws significant cultural elements.

The President, as executive and head of state, sets the foreign and domestic policy and exercises their powers through an appointed six-member State Board. Officers of the State Board are required to have served at least six years in the civil service, and are certified by the Republican Forum. The President can serve three five-year terms before they are ineligible to hold the office. The current President of the Republica is Ivan H. H. Mors, a member of the Trade & Labor party serving his third term.

Legislative power is the responsibility of the Republican Forum, whose Officers are elected from Administrative Villages on the main islands. The twenty-eight officials can serve two terms of three years each before they become ineligible for election for another three years. The Forum is represented and moderated by the Presiding Officer, selected by the Officers from among former members currently ineligible for election. The Forum and the President possess checks against each other; the President may dissolve the Forum with a unanimous vote from the State Board, and the Forum may dismiss the President and State Board with a two-thirds majority vote. The current Presiding Officer of the Forum is Maya G. J. Hua, former Officer from Khalden A.V. 2.

The Superior Court maintains ultimate authority over laws and legal decisions in Tamerlaine. Their three Justices are appointed for a twenty-year term by the President. The Justices possess the power to appoint by unanimous decision a Judge to fill vacancies in the lower District Courts. The appoinment to a District Court is for a ten-year term. Individuals may appeal decisions made in a Village Court to their District Court, and in District Court to the Superior Court. The current Justices are Harold L. P. Hardyll, Boris Q. Uiha, and Doreen V. Z. Maiyr.

The government abides by the Tamerlaine Articles of Governance laid out in the 1971 Republica Treaty. The Articles include safeguards on freedom of expression, religion, press, and association, the rights of sapient individuals, and guaruntees of quality of life and mechanisms for government reform. In the Articles are also definitions for political parties and their operations. There are three extand parties: Trade & Labor, the economically-centrist, socially-liberal party, Development Tamerlaine, the economically-liberal, socially-conservative party, and Action, the economically and socially conservative party.
