Born in Hobbes, Nisserige, Terrelle was greatly influenced by the vocal style of local band clubs in the city. He began his musical career during the reconstruction era, alongside band leaders such as Lulu Keller and Aksel Althaus. He found success as a solo artist in 1942 after running a gig with Aloïs Esser at the Loudmouth Music Club. Terrelle released his first album Another Palace in 1945, in which many songs became a standard for jazz music worldwide.

Following the boom of his career, Terrelle became one of the most well-known residency performers for the city of Hobbes. As his career grew, Terrelle became influenced more and more by swing jazz and other musicians. In the late 60s, Terrelle began a series of performances in Hobbes and Franmark where he performed many of his greatest hits from the past decade. Near the end of communist rule in Nisserige, Terrelle left National Records to start his own record label, Summer Records, and released a string of successful original and retrospective albums.

His best known singles include “Beautiful Moon,” “Rainy Day Cafe,” “Timeless Color,” “Mellow Dreams,” and “All of My Future.”
