Succession to the [[Great Morstaybishlia|Morstaybishlian]] throne is determined by descent, legitimacy, and religion. Under common law, the Crown is inherited by a sovereign's children or by a childless sovereign's nearest collateral line. The most recent time this has happened is when the throne was passed to the younger brother of [[Edrudus IV]], [[Lambertus VI]], when he died.
