Stratarin had a complicated history between the 8th and 15th century where many petty kingdoms came and went. To combat this, Auroran cartographers used to combine ''Strats'' (the name of the tribe) with factors it was best associated with. Most of the time this became the best known monarch. Prior to Arin unifying the Strats in the 15th century, the three petty kingdoms were known as ''Stratsira'' (after Queen Tsira II), ''Stratutana'' (after Queen Tutana I) and ''Statutiko'' (after King Tutiko I). These naming conventions were first recorded in the 12th century and continue to be used in the Staynish and Ethalrian speaking world to this day.
