Smart Tech Era is generally considered to start in 2016, when [[Gyllir Motor Corporation|Gyllir]] released a new series of special Kem Cars had built-in [[Jotun]] (and their subsidy Jætte) smart-phone features. The 'smart tech Kem Car' involved a smartphone connection, that provided the radio connection, GPS and most impactfully Jo-Kjøre application full interface. The Jo-Kjøre application at first provide various features for driving, was the first GPS and phone application that provided warnings for speed traps, traffic delays such as pileups or accidents. Later on starting in 2018, the Jo-Kjøre app in certain Kem Cars became incompletable without the a [[Jotun]]/Jætte phone connected to the car, because the Jo-Kjøre application became the Kem Car's dashboard. It was sold both as a cost-saving measure, as not only the Jo-Kjøre app acted as the dashboard, but it also feed into safety features and the GPS built into it.
