All members of the Royal Family require the permission of the Emperor to get married. The Emperor and Crown Prince require the permission of the Council of Ministers to get married. Princes and Princesses can pass on their titles to their legitimate children as long as they meet stipulated criteria. With the permission of the Emperor, illegitimate children can be bestowed a Princely title. Prince Takaro, brother to [[Oahoanu]] was bestowed a title and his children were also granted titles however General [[Oahuoa Uye]] did not receive a Princely title because he was adopted by his mother's husband, Lord Uye.
