Founded in 1894, by Hed Vler and James Irwys, Matango originally served as a trade publication for bill posters. As the entertainment industry evolved, Matango pivoted its focus to music, eventually becoming a leading source of information on the industry. Over the years, Matango has been owned by various parties and has collaborated with the [[National Music Association]] to evaluate the success of bands and singers.
Starting in the 90's, Matango began organizing musical awards, which later became the Matango Music Awards. In 2021, Matango became an official sponsor of the [[Grand Prix of Music]] and introduced the Matango Trials section, a debut platform for young artists and bands to showcase their talents.
