Line 1:
The chancellor of [[Salovia]] is the political leader of Salovia and the joint head of the [[Politics of Salovia|government]]. The office holder, paired with the Grand Minister, is responsible for setting the political policy of the nation, and approves the election of members in the Grand Executive Council.

Since the office was established in 1812 and its dissolution in 1985, there were a total of 16 Chancelleries and men serving as Chancellor.

There are only two surviving Chancellors, those being Remis Gregorisi and Victor Victrovavich. The most recent to pass away was Kurasin Sokolo, on February 13th, 2006.

The chancellery of Yeltiv Velinovi, who was elected out of office after ascending to the office after the expulsion of his predecessor during a special vote of confidence, was the shortest in Salovian history. Rorik Posol served the longest at nearly 32 years before passing away in office on 18 September, 1942. Rorik Posol served the most consecutive terms at a total of six.

Of the individuals who served as Chancellor, two died in office of natural causes, one of disease, and two were assassinated. Upon their deaths, the Grand Minister at the time would serve as acting Chancellor until a special election was held within 30 days after the Chancellor's death. In all cases, the acting Chancellor was subsequently elected as Chancellor during these special elections.

The importance of political parties in the chancellery was typically less so when compared to other elected positions, namely the Grand Ministry, who was elected by the Zedakhli during any votes of confidence. Mikhail Karanovi is the only Chancellor to not have joined any political party, opting to remain independent. Rorik Posol is the only Chancellor to be elected that was not from the three major parties.
