The format has changed a lot since the contest has begun. It started in 1956 between cities in Salovia which could send a singer from their city or municipality to sing a song in the host city of that year to get a boost for their singing career. The contest grew and grew which almost each year more cities joining in. That was until 1976 when Salovia stared it's breakup. As the orginasation came from the new formed nation of Blueacia they started the second fase of Liet. Liet became a song contest not constinging of cities or municipalities fighting for the win, but it now were broadcasters and musical companies fighting for the win after a few years even (music)schools started to attend. And ofcourse this was not only from Blueacia, but also mostly from neighbouring Tivot and even Salovia (later the nations which became independent after the Salovian Civil War. In 1996 the current format was introduced. Due to dwindeling interest from outside Blueacia the biggest and most important change was made to the contest. Instead of organisations joining the contest nations were now able to join instead. Also in 1996 the public vote was introduced to try and get even more viewers and participants.
