'''João Paulo Rodrigues''' <small>[[Order of the Andorinhões|OA]]</small> (born 28 July 1972) is an Andorinhean politician and economist serving as the [[List of Presidents of the Andorinhões|7th]] and current [[President of the Andorinhões]], since 20 NovemberSeptember 20172019. He is the first President affiliated with the [[We Andorinheans Party (Andorinhões)|NósWe AndorinhianosAndorinheans]] political party.

Rodrigues was born in 1972 in [[Porto Alegre]] on Santa Island,Ana island. Rodrigues attended the College of Porto Alegre, graduated from the University of Colheitas in 1992 with a Bachelor of Economics in applied economics, then in 1996 acquired a Master of Public Administration from Maurício de Corvos University.

After graduating he started is career in the banking sector. He worked as an asset manager for the private [[Bank of São João]]. He was appointed Administrative Director of the [[Bank of the Andorinhões]] from 2007 to 2013. After resigning from his position in the Bank of the Andorinhões he was invited to taughtteach at the [[State University of the Andorinhões]].

AtBefore the start of the [[20172019 Andorinhean legislative election]], many considered Rodrigues to be a front runner to be nominated as a Presidential choice. After havingrumours of initial talks with manythe political[[Democratic partiesAlternative (Andorinhões)|Democratic Alternative]] party, it was announced on 2129 AugustJuly that he would be the choice of the NósWe AndorinhianosAndorinheans Party. Rodrigues assumed a leadership role within the party for the 2019 campaign alongside [[Alícia da Palma]], who was then the parliamentary leader of the party in the [[National Assembly of the Andorinhões|National Assembly]]. Rodrigues brought some legitimacy to the We Andorinheans Party and placed the party as a strong contender to become the governing political party in the Andorinhões. Many experts believe that his announcement to run with the We Andorinheans Party boosted the momentum the party and allowed them to form the government.

After the victory of the NósWe AndorinhianosAndorinheans partyParty, Rodrigues was officially appointed as [[President of the Andorinhões|President]] on 1520 September 20172019.

As President, Rodrigues decided to have a more hands-on approach on the legislative agenda, distancing from an exclusive administrative role for the presidency. He has invited many Deputies to assist to meetings of the [[Council of Ministers of the Andorinhões|Council of Ministers]] in an effort to gain support for the bills presented by the [[Government of the Andorinhões|Government]]. This approach has been criticized by some people, especially aligned with the traditionalist and constitutionalist movements in the Andorinhões, who prioritize a clear separation of powers and a strict administrative role for the Government.
