The '''impeachment of Matvei Lukyanov''' occurred when [[Matvei Lukyanov]], the [[List of presidents of Volkia|12th president of Volkia]], was {{wp|impeachment|impeached}} by the [[Chamber of Deputies (Volkia)|Chamber of Deputies]] of the 42nd [[National Assembly of Volkia|National Assembly]] on September 17, 19711970. The Chamber of Deputies adopted four articles of impeachment against Lukyanov: high treason, abuse of power, anti-Volkian activities, and electoral fraud. The [[Federal Council (Volkia)|Federal Council]] convicted Lukyanov on all four counts. Lukyanov was removed from office and barred from holding political office for life; he would later be arrested by the [[Volkian Federal Police]] and convicted in federal court on similar criminal charges.
