The Fundamental Doctrinaires, often known simply as the Fundamental or abbreviated to FD, are a political faction within the Government of Kæra'zna, currently acting as the domineering group within the country, with a plurality in the Steering Committee and a supermajority within the Higher Directorate. Arising from the original ideas of the first Ritual Nihilists, the faction proclaims itself to be the most faithful successor to the RItualist Nihilists that took power in Kæra'zna following the Nylic Revolution of 1853.

Amongst the generally closed political discourse of Kæra'zna, Fundamental are generally viewed as the moderating Centre, with a general amicability towards the current system within the country, advocating for limited extension of the program to maintain limited cordiality with the country's neighbours, as well as maintaining and expanding trade links in order to support the State-Directed Kæra economy. This generally anti-reformist ideology extends to social policy, in which Fundamental takes a stance against both the removal of the Eugenics system advocated by some members of Insular - as well as the Folkists, while also not promoting an extension of it as advocated by the previously ascendant Purity faction. In this, Fundamental maintains that while the use of Eugenics is a pragmatic method in maximizing societal efficiency, any changes to it would instigate an unnecessary destabilization of the heavily-regulated Kæra Population.

While much of the reasoning behind Fundamental's continued rule can be attested to the unaccountability of the Zhanyl (Head of State of Kæra'zna), as well as the lack of Democracy within the Country, the faction also benefits from its position as the centre point between the more radical factions. This allows Fundamental to act in a position in which they may benefit from playing the smaller factions off each other, forcing any measure seeking reform to gain favour within the Fundamental Doctrinaires in order to have any reasonable chance of success.
