Both [[Acronis]] and Tavaris have historical claim to the east Pacific archipelago known as [[Metrati Anar]]. The name means "Northern Gems" in both languages. Acronis has maintained functional control of the islands since the year 1501 CE, with the exception of 1908-1919 during the [[Great War]]. Tavaris established various theoretical governments for the islands over time. When Tavaris temporarily regained the islands in 1908, it made the islands the tenth province sent as many settlers as possible to populate the islands, many of whom were made to sign waivers holding the state harmless if they perished in an Acronian military operation. After 1918, those settlers who survived returned to the mainland and would continue to count as a constituency to elect the "provincial government" of Metrati Anar, which was a ghost body that had no jurisdiction. A court ruling would overturn this system in 1969. At that time, there were 58 living survivors. As the average life-span for a Tavari elf is approximately 100 years, there are still some survivors living. Though they no longer have special legal status, they are highly respected among Tavari, whose culture honors them as elder ancestors who made sacrifices for the nation. As of 2021, there were 3 remaining Metrati Anar survivors.
