Ethalria, under the rule of Kings, lost lots of land during the [[The Auroran Imperial War|Auroran Imperial War]], partially triggered by a sparsely defined border between themselves and [[Caltharus]]. Ethalria sold Caltharusian land to Ethalrian farmers, evoking the likes of the [[Morstaybishlian Empire]] and [[Kostuvastan]], as well as a familiar enemy, [[Nation/Xagrurg|Xagrurg]]. In 1153, the ruling King was executed in favour for a ruling Queen, because of their tactical inferiority. Since 1153, except for one instance in 1493, Ethalria has remained in hereditary rule by a female, under the title Queen until 1700 until the title Matriarch was adopted. In 1975, the monarchy became constitutional and the country has been henceforth run by a Matriarch with Presidential powers.
