The defense of Ellesborg remains the responsibility of the Cryrian government, which has historically limited its investments in that regard. The Cryrian presence that does exist is largely the result of extensive lobbying efforts by the EMC, and units based in the UFC collectively operate under the aegis of the Ellesborg Garrison. Though typically quite small, itthe Cryrian government has seenbeen pressured into increasing it increasesconsiderably as a result of the nearby Balistrian conflict. Cryria has a total of 2,000 personnel based in Ellesborg, the bulk of which are provided by the Foreign Legion which itself has often recruited from Ellesborg's Zapolese underclass. A single [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iver_Huitfeldt-class_frigate Leiden-class] Frigate makes up the Navy's contribution, why the Royal Cryrian Air Force bases four of its Saab JAS 39NG Gripen fighters in the area. Uniquely, the Cryrian deployment in Ellesborg is entirely funded by the EMC, which itself operates a 1,500 strong armed Gendarmerie with a trio of Tapper-class patrol boats.
