Presidential

Presidential elections always take place between the dates of 16 - 21 November, on a fixed term of every 5 years since 1814. Snap elections for the presidential position cannot be called. The elected candidate takes office on Presidential Day (17 December).

Gemotern (general legislative)

Legislative / general elections are fixed to always take place every 5 years, however snap-elections that take place before the original scheduled date may be arranged. The Gemotern was established after the Great Reform Act 1990.

Federal Council (upper legislative)

Federal Council elections are fixed to take place on August 10th every 10 years since the Federal Council's establishment in 1820.
