The Asendavian Monarchy follows Salic Law which prefers the eldest son and excludes all females from inheriting. The monarch is known as His Imperial Majesty. The reigning monarch, Jon VII of the House of Harstad, assumed the throne at the age of 14 upon the death of his father, Ademar XXI, on November 12th, 1983 (3720 AA). His coronation was held on July 28th, 1985 (3722 AA), three weeks after his sixteenth birthday. The heir to the throne is Crown Prince Alexander, who was born on the 12th of July, 1994 (3731 AA). Crown Prince Alexander is Kaiser Jon VII's first of seven children with his wife Yvonne of House Rokhaug, whom he married in 1990 (3727 AA) and is the younger sister of the Grand Duke of Khiyev.
