=== The Imperial Diet ===

The Imperial Diet is the sole legislative body of the Asendavian Empire. Legally, the Imperial Diet is elected to a five year term, although most Diets typically don't last that long. The Imperial Diet can be dissolved and an election called in four different ways: at the end of a five year term, by the Kaiser at any point in time, by a two-thirds supermajority vote of the Imperial Diet, or after a successful vote of no confidence and by the request of the Syndic. When an election is called, the Imperial Diet is dissolved and the 639 elected seats go up for election, the 430 seats of the clergy and 1,129 seats of the nobility are retained. While the elected seats are elected to five year terms, the seats of the nobility and clergy abide by separate rules. 229 of the 430 clergy seats are reserved for Ademarite clergy, who are appointed by the High Patriarch of the Church of Ademar, while 107 of the 430 clergy seats are reserved for Celanite clergy, who are appointed by the Ecumenical Primate of the Church of Cel. The remaining 94 clergy seats are for the other sanctioned state religions. All clergy members who are appointed to hold a seat will hold that seat for the rest of their life or until they resign. As for the nobility, they are chosen from a list by Committee for Noble Legislative Seats (CNLS), whose members are chosen by the Kaiser, and given seats that last ten years. After an election, the Kaiser appoints one of the Members of the Imperial Diet as Syndic. The Syndic is typically the leader of the party who won the most seats, but the Kaiser is legally allowed to appoint anyone as Syndic.

The Jade Synod is a group of nobles who advise the Kaiser. The Jade Synod is currently made up of 12 members, including the Kaiser. The position in the Synod is hereditary, but the Kaiser is able to appoint and dismiss members at any time, although this right is typically not exercised. The Jade Synod, which should not be confused with the Cabinet even if they have overlapping members, advises the Kaiser on both internal and external matters but has no actual power to do anything.
