Asendavia, officially known as the Asendavian Empire, is a federal parliamentary absolute monarchy. The nation is located in located in northeast Yasteria, sharing land borders with Kelssek and Luthaiya, and maritime borders with Valokchia and Kasmiyland via the Asendavian Sea, and Talusi, Hausberg, Lapinumbia, and Amerminetos via the Kadurian Isles. The bulk of Asendavia's territory is located on continental northeast Yasteria, with the nearby islands of Yoria, Khiyev, the Finlanda Archipelago, and the Halmkil Islands also belonging to the nation. Outside of Yasteria, Asendavia also holds the island chain of Jarisalu in the middle of the Pacific and the Kadurian Isles between Novaris and Gondwana, which it holds in condominum with Talusi and Hausberg. Overall, Asendavia covers a total of 2,816,171 km2 (1,087,330 sq mi) of land. As of 2020, the country has an estimated population of 226,215,871 people. Approximately 20.2 million of these people live in Asendavia's capital and largest city, Stromharad.
The Asendavian Empire, also known simply as Asendavia, is a feudal monarchy located in Northeast Yasteria. Asendavia is composed of many lords who have limited autonomy under the Kaiser. Asendavia is bordered by Reziel to the north; Kelssek to the south; and Valokchia and Luthaiya to the west. Large amounts of it's population lives in the cities, but quite a few people people also live in the country side. Asendavia has an estimated population of around 189,068,271 people.

Though various groups of humans, vulpines, and ursines have inhabited the region for milennia, the history of Asendavia properly begins in 1002 BC with the arrival of Gliat Sheans from western Yasteria. For two hundred years, most of Asendavia was split into a multitude of different city-states, until 815 BC, with the establishment of the Kingdom of Stromharad in eastern Asendavia.

Etymology
The Asendavian Military, currently headed by Ivan Harstad, has been the military of Asendavia throughout its whole history. While it may have not seen as many foreign battles and wars, they have seen many internal ones. The most recent use of the Asendavian Military was in the war between the SEPC and the Fire Pact, although only the Air Force and the Navy truly had any action in it. The Military is centered in Fort Tungrad, which is to the north of Stromharad and south Of Khiyev. It is also the largest fort in Asendavia. The Military has three main branches:

In Asendavian, Asendavia is known as Asetinuklori. This name originates from Gliat Shea, where Asetinuklori was the name for a mythical land to the east, literally translating to Great Eastern Land. Asetinuklori is a combination of the Asendavian words aset, meaning great or vast; inu, meaning east or eastern; and klori, meaning land, country, or place. In reference to Asendavia specifically, the name Asetinuklori first appeared in 789 AA in a document from Hvitsora, referring only to the parts of Asendavia east of the Ademarite Mountains, with the parts of Asendavia west of them being referred to as Asetuskanklori, or the Vast Forested Land.

The Imperial Diet
The Imperial Diet is the sole legislative body of the Asendavian Empire. Legally, the Imperial Diet is elected to a five year term, although most Diets typically don't last that long. The Imperial Diet can be dissolved and an election called in four different ways: at the end of a five year term, by the Kaiser at any point in time, by a two-thirds supermajority vote of the Imperial Diet, or after a successful vote of no confidence and by the request of the Syndic. When an election is called, the Imperial Diet is dissolved and the 639 elected seats go up for election, the 430 seats of the clergy and 1,129 seats of the nobility are retained. While the elected seats are elected to five year terms, the seats of the nobility and clergy abide by separate rules. 229 of the 430 clergy seats are reserved for Ademarite clergy, who are appointed by the High Patriarch of the Church of Ademar, while 107 of the 430 clergy seats are reserved for Celanite clergy, who are appointed by the Ecumenical Primate of the Church of Cel. The remaining 94 clergy seats are for the other sanctioned state religions. All clergy members who are appointed to hold a seat will hold that seat for the rest of their life or until they resign. As for the nobility, they are chosen from a list by Committee for Noble Legislative Seats (CNLS), whose members are chosen by the Kaiser, and given seats that last ten years. After an election, the Kaiser appoints one of the Members of the Imperial Diet as Syndic. The Syndic is typically the leader of the party who won the most seats, but the Kaiser is legally allowed to appoint anyone as Syndic.

The Jade Synod
The Jade Synod is a group of nobles who advise the Kaiser. The Jade Synod is currently made up of 12 members, including the Kaiser. The position in the Synod is hereditary, but the Kaiser is able to appoint and dismiss members at any time, although this right is typically not exercised. The Jade Synod, which should not be confused with the Cabinet even if they have overlapping members, advises the Kaiser on both internal and external matters but has no actual power to do anything.

The Monarchy
The Asendavian Monarchy follows Salic Law which prefers the eldest son and excludes all females from inheriting. The monarch is known as His Imperial Majesty. The reigning monarch, Jon VII of the House of Harstad, assumed the throne at the age of 14 upon the death of his father, Ademar XXI, on November 12th, 1983 (3720 AA). His coronation was held on July 28th, 1985 (3722 AA), three weeks after his sixteenth birthday. The heir to the throne is Crown Prince Alexander, who was born on the 12th of July, 1994 (3731 AA). Crown Prince Alexander is Kaiser Jon VII's first of seven children with his wife Yvonne of House Rokhaug, whom he married in 1990 (3727 AA) and is the younger sister of the Grand Duke of Khiyev.

Unification Period
Beginning in 931 AA and ending in 1479 AA, Asendavia's Unification Period covered the War of the Kingdoms and the early years of the Kingdom of Asendavia. In 931 AA, the newly-crowned King of Stromharad, Ademar Harstad, declared war against the weaker Kingdom of Tungrad, seeing an opportunity to benefit from their decline. Threatened by this, and wanting the Kingdom of Tungrad for himself, the king of Zhelelovka declared war against the Kingdom of Stromharad and the Kingdom of Tungrad. This would be the start of the war now known as the War of the Kingdoms, which would last for almost all of the Asendavian medieval period. However, it was more of a series of wars than one single war. Notable battles of the war include the Battle of Fagergrund, which was fought in the town of the same between all three kingdoms and is known as the most deadly battle in early Asendavian history, the Battle of Brekstrand, where the Kingdom of Zhelelovka attempted to invade Yoria and failed, and the Battle of Skoggrund, where the king of Stromharad at the time slew the king of Tungrad and his heir. <br />

The turning point of the war was the Battle of Skoggrund in 1381 AA, which resulted in the destruction of the ruling dynasty of Tungrad. After the battle ended, a peace was signed between the two remaining kingdoms which resulted in the Kingdom of Tungrad being split between Stromharad and Zhelelovka. The peace lasted for 50 years, before the Kingdom of Zhelelovka invaded and the war started up again. However, the Kingdom of Zhelelovka had severely underestimated the Kingdom of Stromharad. During the peace, wary of Zhelelovka, the Kingdom of Stromharad spent it's time expanding the army. The war went quickly, with the army of Stromharad crushing the army of Zhelelovka in the Battle of Helsingsund. With the Kingdom of Stromharad's army quickly approaching, the King of Zhelelovka realized he couldn't win the war and he bent the knee to the King of Stromharad at the time, Jon II, in 1432 AA. With all three kingdoms united, King Jon II proclaimed himself the King of Asendavia on May 6th, 1432. His coronation as King of Asendavia was held two days later on May 8th. During the last 47 years of the medieval Asendavian period, the Kingdom of Asendavia expanded northeast to the island of Khiyev, east to the Halmkil island chain, and northwest to the Finlanda archipelago.

The Early Medieval Period of Asendavia lasted from the end of the Unification Period in 1479 AA to the beginning of the High Medieval Period in 2451 AA. Major events that occurred during this time period include the First Asendavian War Over Succession, several wars with the Western Princes, and Brynjar's Plague.

First Asendavian War of Succession

After the end of the Unification Period in 1479 AA, Asendavia would stagnate for the next few centuries, with no major wars or events taking place. However, in 2076 AA, the Kingdom of Asendavia would erupt into civil war upon the death of King Terje IX. Despite having 7 adult sons, with 4 more who weren't of age yet, Terje IX never designated an heir to the throne. This caused a succession crisis which would last for 9 years. Upon his father's death, Prince Viktor, Terje's 4th son, claimed the throne, crowning himself as Viktor V. This outraged the rest of his siblings though, who soon raised their own armies and began fighting among each other. Within two months of claiming the throne, Viktor V was dead, having been captured in battle and summarily executed by his older brother, Prince Hjalmar, Terje's first son. Prince Hjalmar would later crown himself as King Hjalmar VIII, and he ruled for 3 years until dying of tuberculosis. For the remaining 6 years of the civil war, the throne remained empty. With one of the child princes having died before coming of age and the remaining three coming of age, there were now 8 princes fighting for the throne. The climax of the war would occur with the Battle of Haldal in 2084 AA, when four of the princes met in battle. Twin Princes Adelar and Gunnar's army first engaged battle with Prince Halvor's army outside the village of Haldal, with Prince Reidar's army joining the battle 3 hours after the initial engagement. In total, the battle lasted 9 hours and ended with the victory of Princes Adelar and Gunnar. Prince Halvor's army, having been the smallest of the three armies and engaged from two sides, was utterly destroyed, with the survivors pledging allegiance to the Twin Princes. Prince Halvor himself lost a hand during the battle, and would die a few weeks later after his wounds grew infected. As for Prince Reidar, he and his army managed to escape with moderate losses, but Prince Reidar would later be assassinated by one of his commanders, who then swore fealty to the Twin Princes. <br />

During the last year of the war, the Twin Prince's armies scoured the country for their 4 remaining brothers. Prince Askr was captured in the Battle of Staheim and forced to join a monastery in the Finlanda Archipelago, Prince Brynjar was killed by a mob of peasants after his guards abandoned him, Prince Erling and his two sons drowned when their ship sank in a storm while trying to invade Yoria, and Prince Vidar jumped from a tower in Tungrad as Adelar and Gunnar's forces rushed to capture him. With all of their siblings dealt with and the end of the civil war, Princes Gunnar and Adelar were crowned co-rulers of Asendavia by the High Patriarch in 2085 AA.

First Coalition War
In 2093 AA, eight years after the end of the First Asendavian War Over Succession, the Principality of Skeosia on Asendavia's western border was also facing internal strife. The heir to Skeosia, Prince Asmund, fled the country after his father, Prince Einar, had ordered his arrest for Asmund's supposed role in the failed attempt on Einar's life. Having originally fled to the Duchy of Zhelelovka within Asendavia, he petitioned Duke Gulbrand to give him an army and gold to depose his father, but was denied his request and cast out, where he proceeded to make his way to Stromharad. Once in Stromharad, he petitioned the Twin Kings, Gunnar and Adelar, to help him take what was rightfully his, and that in return, he would swear fealty to them. Although hesitant at first, Adelar was convinced by Gunnar, the more militarily-minded of the two, to accept the petition. Thus, two months later, war was declared upon Skeosia. <br />

With little resistance, the Asendavian Army marched into Skeosia and quickly laid siege to its capital, Trondstrand. Unbeknownst to the Asendavians though, Prince Einar had sent out messages to many of the other principalities, asking for help against Asendavia. The Principalities of Khekantis, Ibrintis, and Ikelon responded to Skeosia's cry for help, mustering their armies together and marching towards Trondstrand to relieve the beleaguered city. Kings Gunnar and Adelar only received news of the Coalition Army a few days before it would arrive to relieve the besieged city. With the Coalition Army larger than their own, Kings Adelar and Gunnar ordered a retreat into the mountains on the Skeosian-Asendavian border. Hesitant to chase after the Asendavians, the Coalition Army stayed at Trondstrand for a few days before giving chase. During this time, King Gunnar had fortifications built in the mountain passes that connected Asendavia to Skeosia while King Adelar went back to Stromharad with Prince Asmund in order to muster more men to fend off the Coalition. A week later, the Coalition Army arrived.

During this time, King Gunnar had fortifications built in the mountain passes that connected Asendavia to Skeosia while King Adelar went back to Stromharad with Prince Asmund in order to muster more men to fend off the Coalition. A week later, the Coalition Army arrived. Having to march 16,000 men through the mountains, the Coalition Army chose to march through Vernar Pass, the largest pass in the area. Despite having only 10,000 men to the Coalition's 16,000, King Gunnar had half of his men disperse into the mountains to harass the approaching army every step of the way. His remaining 5,000 men took up position at the narrowest part of the pass behind fortifications and waited for the Coalition Army to meet them.

As the Coalition Army marched further into the mountains, King Gunnar's men continually ambushed their army, pushing rocks down slopes and firing arrows at the marching army only to slip away back into the mountains. Night raids were also a common occurrence for the Coalition Army, bands of Asendavian soldiers would ambush their camps, sabotage their supplies, and kill any men they could before once again slipping away into the night. By the time the Coalition's army reached King Gunnar's position, it was quite weakened by the continual raids but still much larger than Gunnar's own forces. However, the night raids had given Gunnar ample time to improve his defences in Vernar Pass. The battle was now set to take place, the Coalition's now 12,000 man army versus Gunnar's 5,000 men defending Vernar Pass. Attempting to use its numerical superiority to its advantage, the Coalition Army rushed the Asendavian defences but were repelled thanks to the narrowness of the pass which prevented the Coalition from flanking Gunnar's army. In the first day of fighting, the Coalition lost over 800 men, while only 71 of Gunnar's men perished.
