After a successful career as a financial consultant, Baas ran for election as a member of the Midonian Milbaist Party, a minor political party proposing the reunification of West and Oost Middenland under Sander, Duke of West Middenalnd. This party, like Baas, took influences from [[Royalistic Populism]], and Baas soon became a key advocate for this ideology after being elected as a Representative of Commerce. The MMP soon became absorbed into the much larger Royal Conservative Party, which gave Baas a chance to make connections with others of similar values, joining the Loyalist Reformist Group in 2008 to lobby for the electoral reform to bring the federal system closer to the more democratic local councils of Milba and his home of West Middenland. This faction grew to prominence in the Royal Conservative Party as Prince Hendrik, Duke of Korsland entered politics, who endorsed the reforms pushed by the LRG - having introduced these elected councils to Korsland in 2015.
