The Kingdom of Alksearia, or more commonly known as Alksearia, is located on the Western shores of Arcutria. It is an absolute monarchy, but recently has made major strides to become a crowned republic, with a subservient church, the Church of Xaethos. Alksearia has a symbolic legislature, the Council of Lords, that submits new law proposals to the King, and acts as an oversight committee for various internal operations in the Kingdom.

The Kingdom was birthed after the union of the Grand Duchy of Western Alksearia and the Archduchy of Eastern Alksearia in 1840 after the conclusion of the two-year war known as the First Succession War. The War ended with then, Archduke Eldras III to become the first King. The first major expansion of the borders under the new Kingdom saw Alksearia conquer the northern shore, consolidating their control over the . The capital city was moved from Sera-Novia to Urgia-Nova in 1842 after King Eldras decided that 1) it was a more central location and 2) offered better space for the Tuvanian Manor. The Eldras Manor (previously known as the Tuvanian Castle) still stands today, and is a popular tourist location for people to see.

King Eldras VI started to move the kingdom away from absolutism into a more constitutional monarchy in late 2020. This move has been met with a lot of controversy within Alksearia. The first government formed was under Matthias Barbet, however, his government came to end in October 2020, leading to then-Princess-Regent Dorothea to call for a new election. The second election will happen on 9th January 2021. Queen Dorothea is the current monarch after the brutal murder of her father, King Eldras VI on live television. This has lead to a war between Balistria and ALksearia, bringing most of the world to war.

History

On a cold January night in 1837, members of the Councils of both the Duchy of Eastern Alksearia and the Grand Duchy Western Alksearia met. This first meeting was supposed to come to a compromise over the use of the use of the Southern Channel as it had started to become a popular trade area. During this meeting, the idea of a united Alksearia started to float around. The idea died down after this trade meeting, but came back in 1838 when the Grand Duchy of Western Alksearia started to have extreme internal stability issues. The leader, Grand Duke Alphonse III, had been an unpopular leader for some time, and the head of the Tamors decided it was time to go against the Grand Duke. The Grand Duke begged the Duke of Eastern Alksearia, Duke Eldras III, to support him in his Civil War. Although Duke Eldras never sent any men to fight, he did send monetary and equipment aid. After announcing an election, Eldras VI started to work to reform some different laws in the country before the parliament was elected. His last reform was abolishing both the serfdom and the practice of involuntary servitude. The results of the first election post the Republic are expected to come out soon

Government

The Monarchy

While the Monarchy has served with absolute power since the founding of the kingdom, Eldras VI revised the system to become more of a Constitutional Monarchy. The Monarchy retain Foreign Affairs powers, and retained the ability to veto laws coming out of the Parliament.

The Parliament

The Parliament was established in August 2020 after a referendum to ratify the Constitution of the Kingdom of Alksearia. The first government formed was under Matthias Barbet, a well-known activist for democracy within Alksearia. He had met with King Eldras VI on numerous occasions to help establish what the Parliament would look like. When the referendum passed, Barbet had his fellow activists and friends band together to create the Liberal Alksearia Party. Unsurprisingly, Liberal Alksearia won more than enough seats to form the first government.

The Parliament is split into two chambers: The General Assembly (lower house) and the Senate (Upper House). The General Assembly is the only house able to introduce bills to become laws, and the Senate is responsible for . Both houses must approve legislation before it is signed into law. The Government is formed in the lower house. The current government is lead by Prime Minister Matthias Barbet, however, after his arrest, a new general election is expected to take place on 9th January 2021.

The General Assembly

The General Assembly is the lower house of the Parliament, and is where the Government is formed. Each member of the General Assembly is elected from one district. The current ruling Party, Liberal Alksearia, has a majority in the General Assembly with 230 seats after an election in late July.

The Army has an interesting structure compared to other nations. The military is divided into 5 different orders: The Order of Xaethos, the Order of Alksearia, the Order of Ælon, The Royal Order, and The Order of Novia.
