A by-election was held in the Aszar parliamentary division of Shán Tschal on 20 August 2021, following the record-fast recall petition of the previous Member of Parliament (MP) Ruskalis Sadzhun, who had been sacked from his position as Secretary of State for Transport pending investigation over corruption and embezzlement in the wake of the botched response to the quake and tsunami the month previous. Although the seat was traditionally a safe ReNDaF seat, a recent opinion poll by ASGTV predicted it would be a close contest between the right-wing party and trade unionist movement Solidarity. In the end, the ReNDaF candidate Sare'us Alkhasrun won by a margin of only 25 votes, following three recounts.
