The '''2019 Great Morstaybishlia general election''' was held on Wednesday 27 February 2019, seven years after the [[20122017 Great Morstaybishlia General Election|previous general election in 20122017]]. The election took place in 1,794 constituencies across [[Great Morstaybishlia]] under the [[Wikipedia:First-past-the-post|first-past-the-post]] system. The election resulted in a large swing to Labour, similar to that seen in 1998; the Conservatives lost its majority and conceded 250 seats. Leader of the Opposition [[Franklin Barvata]] defeated [[Walter Johannes]] to become the next Prime Minister, his party receiving a 12-seat majority.

The 2019 election saw an additional 52 seats to the House of Representatives, a result of political union with [[JustelvardJusdelva]]. The campaigning focused on public opinion towards a change in government. Labour Leader, [[Franklin Barvata]] focused on his foreign policy rhetoric and scrutinising the governments [[2018-2019 military intervention in Rodenia]], with promises of withdrawing to focus on regrowing the economy post-[[Auroran-PacificCerenerian War]]. Johannes sought to rebuild public trust in the Conservatives following breaking their promise on the Five Year Plans the party set out two years prior to deal with the economic drawbacks from the war, through campaigning on the strength of the economic recovery following the mid 2000s recession.

Opinion polls during the campaigning showed strong support for Labour due to the popularity of Barvata among voters. The final result of the election on 27 February 2019 revealed that Labour had won a majority, making a net gain of 210 seats and winning just shy of 82 million or 36.3% of the vote. The [[MBE Democrats|Democrats]], under the leadership of Paddy Lukamortz, made a net gain of 10 seats, winning 43.4 million or 19.2% of the vote. Three new parties made seat gains into the House; Greta Gonwager, who had replaced the former JustelvardicJusdelvic Prime Minister [[Arran Samsey]] as leader of the JustelvardicJusdelvic Unionist Party made a net gain of 33 of the 52 seats in the nation; the other 5 going to Mikhail Morakuzi of the Justelvardic IndependenceJusdelvicIndependence Alliance (JIA) who was the main opposition to unification in 2016 and who's members did not take their seat. [[Alwin Jordanes]] campaigned and won 6 seats within the Province of Nocturne, the Nocturne Independence Party (now Marislian Independence Party), though no members took their seat. Lucia Malim led the Green Alliance MBE back into the chamber for the first time since 1998; netting 11 seats in primarily Jubrione hi-diversity evergreen rainforest statesconstituencies.

The overall result of the election ended 14 years of Conservative government, wholly under [[Walter Johannes]]'s administration. Immediately following the election Johannes resigned both as Prime Minister and party leader. The election of 791 women came to be seen as a watershed moment for female political representation within the MBE. Both the Conservatives and Labour netted seats in JustelvardJusdelva, though the latter more so; the nation itself electing its first seats to [[Sani Bursil]].
