[[Omer Sargento]] leader of the Democratic Alternative and outgoing Leader of the majority resigned on election night after failing to win another majority mandate. The leader of the National Assembly of Independents resigned one month after the election and [[Albano Peres]] became leader on 22 February 2016 following a leadership campaign. [[Tristão Prova]] leader of the [[New Socialist Option (Andorinhões)|New Socialist Option]] announced that he would not be running in the 2019 election and was replaced by [[Meritxell Capela]] on 16 April 2017.
