The Defense of Aldaar

The Defense of Aldaar is an ongoing RP thread by Styx which concerns the steps taken to protect Aldaar from the retribution of Mirhaimian actors following the Aldaari Spring in early 2023. The RP is comprised of Voyage of the Homebound, which follows efforts to incite a revolution in the Republic of Sayaduun, and The Hourglass, which deals with the defense of the Aldaari mainland. The main plot occurs over a total of 30 parts, with 28 falling within the 2 main RP threads. It has featured three joint posts with Stander.

Summary

Prologue

A Hard Deadline - Yufraan Abd'ildarra hosts a meeting discussing plans, but unbeknownst to some participants a plot brews underneath to begin the reunification of the country.

The Crowning Moment - At the Coronation and Wedding of Thumim V and Saga of Tynam, Azniv Haviiz and Alane Kairas - representatives of two longtime enemies - establish a plan to help each other out, and maybe make the world a better place while they're at it.

Book One - Sand

Voyage of the Homebound - Omar Naciri

Part 1 - As Omar and his nibling/adoptive child travel the deserts of Sayaduun searching for the rebel group Alkhatawf, the old teacher thinks about his past and the nature of religion, and his worries for his child.

Part 2 - Omar and Yufraan, after days of fruitless searching, come across a safe haven in the middle of the desert. They meet a kindly old woman, Najwa Shariiq. When Omar and Najwa challenge each other in a mind-game of a conversation, Najwa reveals she knows more about the desert than she originally let on, and gives them the clue they may need.

Part 3 - As a sandstorm begins to set in, Omar voices his worries for Yufraan's psyche and manages, for the first time, to convince them to open up about the murder of their fiancée. However, Najwa's tip proves inconveniently accurate when the duo is ambushed.

The Hourglass - Azniv Haviiz

Part 1 - Azniv, acting leader of the reborn Aldaar during Yufraan's absence, ponders on the power she has been given through the Mutadiit's carte blanche and what it truly means to have the power to protect a people.

Part 2 - Following the arrival of crucial arms from the Federation of the Southern Coast, Azniv's resolve strengthens following a conversation with her assistant, Zayn Malik, and the pair plans for the inevitable military conflict with the remains of the Aldaari Volunteer Guards. Later that night, an explosion rocks an industrial district in Mukarras, with The Mukarras Times broadcasting evidence for Aldaar's possession of anti-armor weaponry.

Part 3 - Azniv receives some visitors from Mirhaimian Intelligence, who offer her their assistance and give some tips for local cuisine. The curtain is pulled back slightly on the forces at work behind the modern day power struggle, but Azniv begins to become suspicious of not just Mirhaime, but the Mutadiit themself.

Book Two - Moon

Voyage of the Homebound - Yufraan Abd'ildarra

Part 1 - After being brought into the compound of Alkhatawf for questioning, Yufraan has the chance to meet the elusive Colonel Saarkis Hawk. Yufraan pleads their case for a large-scale revolution to the reluctant veteran, who decides he will announce his decision at a banquet the following night.

Part 2 - In which a party is attended, a god discovers her true passion, and a crucial decision is made.

Part 3 - In which our heroes are despondent and a shadowy figure reveals themself.

Part 4 - In which all is not yet lost.

The Hourglass - Anahid Terzian

Part 1 - When Azniv tells her what her role is for the upcoming conflict, Anahid reflects on her childhood and, despite her reservations, decides to give her job her all and see where it gets her.

Part 2 - In which an important announcement is made and a conviction resurfaces.

Part 3 - In which a new dynamic forms and Aldaari readies to fight.

Part 4 - In which inspiration is to be found, if one only looks.
