Sand Dragons, called ქვიშის ვეშაპი (Sand Whale) in Salovian, are a large serpentine legendary creature said to inhabit the Great Auroran Desert. Beliefs in the creature have waned with the advent of modern technology, however its cultural impact on eastern Aurora can still be seen into the modern day. Many folk tales and songs mention the creature, stylized as a wise teacher for the protagonist or a powerful yet unpredictable ally to aid the protagonist in their journeys. The earliest verifiable depictions of sand dragons come from ancient Melit'hasa temples within their home desert, showing them as massive foes that their greatest leaders vanquished.
