The Ethalrian Matriarchy, officially the Matriarchy of Ethalria (MOE; Ethalrian language: Großes Matriarchat von Krösenland) was a landlocked fascist federal sovereign state in the continent Aurora. It bordered (from left to right) the Republic of Ethalria, Great Morstaybishlia, Kostromastan, Tuvaltastan and Kostoria-Obertonia. In 2014, Ethalria had a population of — million and a GDP per capita of —.
The Matriarchy of Ethalria succeeded the Grand Matriarchy of Ethalria in 1975 following the end of the Auroran Imperial War and during an era of great economic recession in Aurora.
Ethalria was a Matriarchy and all government positions were helmed solely by females. The active military of Ethalria, which had 1.9 million personnel, was a mixture of female and male conscripts, with presiding female dominance in officer positions. In 2015, men had a 89% employment rate whilst women boasted a 98.2% employment rate.
Destabilisation
Under Amalda Harimann, Ethalria went to war a second time with Great Morstaybishlia in 50 years. It was revealed the assassination of Prince Thadeus was organised by the Ethalrian Matriarch herself to provoke the destabilisation of the Empire. However, Thadeus was not a target. Instead the assassination was intended for the King, Lambertus VII.
The Empire declared war on Ethalria on the 8th of June 2017, the conflict lasting for four and a half months. In that period, the Empire, with the help of a few allies, managed to completely destroy the Ethalrian defence, as a result of good fortune and excellent military prowess. After the fall of Ribenstadt on the 24th of October that year, Amalda Harimann was never found. Her War Cabinet was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
A short while after the war, the Ethalrian constitution had a complete overhaul, with changes in most areas. Four nations arose from the ashes of Ethalria, those nations being Vothetria, Faethalria, Thalria, and Kothalria.
