Candidates

In the Andorinhões, candidates for the governorship are independent candidates but political parties are allowed to endorse candidates.

Cristóvão de Carvalho was looking to secure a second term and was the favourite to win. His alliance, the Alliance for the re-election of Cristóvão de Carvalho received the endorsements from many of the more centrists paries such as the Democratic Alternative, the Constitutionalist Tradition and the We Andorinheans political parties.

Ambrósio Macedo was the nominee from an alliance of left-wing parties led by the National Worker Party, the Alliance of workers for Ambrósio Macedo. It received endorsements from the New Socialist Option, the League of Progressive Forces and the People's Front of Communal Revolution.

The Conservative Coalition did not endorse any of the two candidates but many Deputies and party officials openly supported the re-election of de Carvalho.

Other minor political parties such as the Republican Reformists Group, the Federation of Creditists and the Patriotic Alliance tried to present a right-wing nominee but failed to do so and thus did not endorse any of the candidates.
